Summary:Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and NICU Physician Assistants
(must have NICU exp or completed a NICU PA Residency) positions at
the rank of Instructor are being sought for the Department of
Pediatrics, Section of Neonatology. These positions will function
in fully clinical roles in support of the patient care activities
of the Section of Neonatology, Community Practice group. Candidates
are sought with a demonstrated track record of delivering the
highest standards of patient and family care in community-based
neonatology intensive care unit (NICU) settings.Key
Responsibilities:The duties and responsibilities of the position
include, but are not limited to:
- Participates in the attending - direct patient care -
responsibilities of the Community Practice Group including in-house
coverage, call coverage, and telehealth consultation.
- Support the delivery of care-team based care coordination of
community-based NICUs in collaboration with group Neonatology Nurse
Practitioners and Physician Assistants to implement effective
treatment plans for newborns.
- Support the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired practice
group members.
- Participates in the formulation of rules, regulations and
standards of care relating to professional activities within
community-based newborn units. This responsibility includes the
establishment of the appropriate mechanisms to ensure that these
rules, regulations and standards are adhered to.
- Responsible, along with other members of the neonatal staff, of
assuring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care
services provided within the different clinical services and
settings.
- Engage in continuous education and training to remain current
with advancements in neonatal medicine.
- Foster relationships with families, providing them with
information and support throughout their infant's care journey.Work
Location:This role is expected to work onsite at one or more
Community Practice Group locations including the following:
AdventHealth - Avista (Louisville), Level IIIAdventHealth -
Littleton, Level IIIAdventHealth - Parker, Level IIIAdventHealth -
Castle Rock, Level II These facilities deliver approximately 4,000
babies per year. You will work alongside a dedicated team of
Neonatologists coupled with being a part of a larger care team
within the state of Colorado where quality improvement and

disabilities. Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications: Applicants
must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Neonatal
Nurse Practitioner (NNP)
- Master's Degree (NNP)
- Board Certification as an NNP NICU Physician Assistant (PA)
- Completion of a graduate program accredited by the
Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician
Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Pass the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination
(PANCE) administered by the National Commission on Certification of
Physician Assistants (NCCPA). NNP or PA
- Three years' combined experience as RN, NNP or PA in a neonatal
setting.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of high-quality patient
care in the Level II and Level III NICU setting.
- Licensed (RN, APRN, PA) to practice in the state of
Colorado
- Current DEA license at time of hire. Condition of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital
Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background

will be listed in the job posting. Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong Level III NICU experience and skill set with preferred
minimum 3 years' experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented
environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and
neonatal monitoring technologies.
- Knowledge of evidence-based clinical care practices and skills
in implementing them into practice to improve outcomes.
- Maintains competency in skills/procedures.
- Highly organized and ability to manage multiple patients on a
care team.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, health
care setting.
- Knowledge of normal and abnormal variations for all body
systems and ability to incorporate assessment findings into direct
patient management.
- Skills in assessing family communication, adaptation, and
coping skills to provide the best support for the family, including
recognizing when the need for crisis or other interventions may be
necessary. Ability to communicate with a child's family regarding
changing healthcare needs.
- Skills in performing routine diagnostic and therapeutic
techniques according to established protocol and current neonatal
critical care standards.
- Knowledge of current NRP and AHA standards to skillfully
initiate and perform measures necessary to resuscitate and
stabilize a compromised neonatal/pediatric patient.
