Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Pueblo , Colorado .
PURPOSE OF POSITION The Manufacturing Engineer’s primary focus will
be to improve the overall effectiveness of our manganese machining.
The overall effectiveness measures will include cycle time
accuracy, number of castings machined per week, cut time
utilization percentage, and frog line assembly times. Reducing
variation of castings to the frog line is critical to this position
and will allow the frog line to hit their targets. Safety : Comply
with and enforces all Nortrak safety policies and regulations.
Participate in development and review of JSAs, set up instructions,
hazard analysis of new equipment and processes, and resolution of
any assigned safety committee issues. Quality : Perform 5S and
Kaizen events and engage employees in the continuous improvement
process. Be responsible for helping develop, implement, maintain,
and improve standard processes, quality systems, capacity planning
and scheduling systems. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes,
layouts, operation methods, machines and man-hours utilized to
determine excessive cost items to reduce costs. Develop proposals
for methods, special tooling, and work-holding design for cost
reduction, quality and process enhancement, and safety. Plan and
optimize material flow through effective utilization of CNC
equipment capacity, supplier capabilities, and material lead time
as well as through leveraging outside capacity as needed.
Troubleshoot manufacturing processed at the shop level based on
strong knowledge of cutting tool applications, GD&T, and
proficient use of precision measuring gages. Systematically review
all machining and programming CARs and initiates corrective actions
as required. Determine “Best Practices & Key Performance
Indicators” and share results with all Nortrak manufacturing
facilities. Interpret complex engineering drawings and written
specifications of precision machined components. Prepare written
graphical work instructions for production staff. Evaluate multiple
potential solutions to derive the optimum solution using different
problem solving techniques such as A3 or the 8D process. On-Time
Delivery : Develop key manufacturing strategies and concepts that
enhance employee safety, ensure quality in manufacturing processes,
increase part flow/production and reduce production time and cost.
Collaborate with Production Planning to designate machine
utilization. Review and validate routers. Cost : Assist in the cost
estimating and quote preparation of machined components. Lead
machining process improvements. Develop jigs and fixtures. Reduce
costs through optimal tool selection and process improvements.
Manage capital projects including justification, specifications,
negotiation of price and terms, and oversee successful implantation
or installation. Assist in maintenance, repair and commissioning of
equipment. Work with production personnel to identify enhanced
facility designs/layouts, create and implement enhanced
manufacturing processes, and recommend capital improvements
projects which support annual company objectives. People : Manage,
train and develop programming and machinist staff in order to
safely meet the requirements of the production schedule. Must be
able to work with vendors, plant, and maintenance personnel to
design, modify, and install equipment and perform facility
modification. Must be able to work with production and maintenance
personnel, vendors and other Nortrak plant personnel in a
team-oriented environment. Works with Maintenance Department to
identify/resolve any equipment issues/concerns. ENVIRONMENTAL:
Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and
Policies. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial
Engineering or other technical discipline. FIELD OF EXPERIENCE: 5
years of related manufacturing experience within the CNC Machining
Industry Experience with low volume/high component mix environment.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS 9001 standards would be an asset.
Experience in a forging/forming environment preferred. Experience
with presses and mechanized/automated manufacturing preferred.
Initiative to create, develop and monitor processes to improve
equipment reliability at educed costs. Must have hands on
experience in maintaining, repair and installation of production
equipment. Electrical knowledge of power supply, motors, PLC, air
compressors, hydraulics in necessary. Strong interpersonal,
written, and oral communication skills are required. Ability to
work in a team environment and function as a team leader.
Demonstrate sound judgement under minimal supervision. Must be
responsible, attentive and detail oriented. Ability to coordinate
multiple tasks. Project Management Background: Strong understanding
of cost analysis, work simplifications and value stream analysis.
Proven experience within work measurement and CNC equipment
capacity planning. Must possess strong verbal and written
communication skills. Knowledge in SAP, MS Office Software, and MS
Projects. Physical Demand: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
and working on a computer; occasional standing and walking for your
scheduled shift. Must remain stationary for extended periods and
move throughout the building to access files. Must work effectively
in a noisy environment. Ability to lift and move equipment or
objects up to 20-25 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements
include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel
required, involving standing, walking, sitting, and driving for
vary durations. Frequent use of hands and arms for dialing phones
and using a computer mouse. WORKING LOCATION: Pueblo, Colorado
