The University of Colorado Hospital's Transplant Hepatology Unit is
a 36-bed medical surgical unit specializing in the perioperative
care of solid organ transplant recipients, donors, and
hepatobiliary surgical patients. Specifically, we provide care to
lung, liver, kidney and pancreas transplant patients, as well as
live-donor nephrectomy and live-donor hepatectomy patients. In
addition, we care for hepatology patients that require specialized
care across the continuum of their liver diseases. We work closely
with multi-disciplinary teams across all organ groups to prepare
patients for life before, during and after transplantation. We are
unique in that we admit most of our kidney, liver and pancreas
transplant patients directly to the floor from the PACU, bypassing
higher levels of care. We work as an inclusive team and pride
ourselves for the quality and safe care we provide to our high
acuity and specialized patient population.
