The Vice President of Human Resources (HR) provides leadership and guidance to the organization's HR operations. The Vice President is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization's long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management. Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues. Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements. Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversees employee engagement programs. Coordinates sponsored employee services and activities designed to enhance employee/organization relationships. Administers employee relations programs, employee communications, EAP program, new employee orientation, service award programs, sponsored sports, fundraising, and social activities. Recommends new programs or changes to existing programs.
  • Administers the Credit Union's compensation plan. Prepares job descriptions and evaluates jobs using an established evaluation system. Ensures all jobs are evaluated correctly for job grade and salary range, suggesting changes where necessary to match market conditions. Administers annual merit increase plan, assists in preparation of annual budgets and development of merit increase plan. Assists in the administration of performance planning and review program. Maintains compensation records and files.
  • Administers the Credit Union's benefit programs such as basic and major medical coverage, dental insurance, group life insurance, LTD, pension plans, and other benefits. Consults with and advises employees on their eligibility for these and other related benefits. Maintains benefits records and documents necessary for implementing benefit coverage. Maintains and distributes plan documents and employee communications relating to benefits. Recommends changes or additions to the program to reflect employee and Credit Union's needs. Assures compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefit programs and prepares and files required legal reports.
  • Oversees the payroll process and HRIS software. Ensures staff is paid on time and according to the policies and procedures set forth by the organization. Ensures HRIS software is set up effectively and efficiently to take advantage of all automation and data is stored accurately.
  • Analyzes educational needs for multiple layers of staff to ensure the organization's development remains planned and structured as it grows and positions itself to take advantage of future opportunities.
  • Maintains all personnel files and records for the Credit Union.

    Performance Measurements:
    1. Control expenses, including employee compensation that is consistent with the overall strategic plan and the budget of the credit union.
    2. To ensure that all human resource programs and actions are in compliance with organizational policies and relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations.
    3. To improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's human resources through education and development programs.
    4. To recruit and screen qualified candidates for all positions in the corporate and branch offices and counsel the Colorado Springs and Grand Junction branches in their recruiting efforts.
    5. Review, recommend and monitor the credit union's overall benefit and compensation programs.
    6. Maintain all personnel files, records and reports in compliance and confidence.
    7. Maintain knowledge of federal and state employment laws.

    Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000
