Description

The Director of Food Service works under the Executive Director and directs all activities of the Food Service Department and dining room. The position is responsible for quality of meals served, quality of service, delivery during meal service, control of dietary department expenses and for compliance with special diets offered by the Haverland Carter Lifestyle Group (HCLG) community.

RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS:

• Responsible for planning, directing, controlling, communicating, and coaching
• Follows the HCLG Menu Program that meets nutritional requirements, as directed by the Food Service Director.
• Ensures that all foods are prepared to satisfaction of residents and in accordance with safe food handling practices.
• Provides input and support to the ED on new hires and training staff in the dietary department
• Ensures compliance with all applicable sanitation and dietary guidelines.
• Responsible for working safely and ensuring that dietary staff works in a safe manner in compliance with all safety standards.
• Demonstrates strong personnel, community relations, and interpersonal skills.
  
  Requirements
  
  

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two years of continuing education preferred
• Three years of experience in food service preparation and managing staff
• Current ServSafe Certification, and must obtain local required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certifications
• Occasional weekend, evening or night work if needed to ensure shift coverage
• On-Call on an as-needed basis
• Must meet all health requirements, including TB and drug screen, and pass criminal background check.
• Compassion for and desire to work with older adults
