Summary:
Acts as an expert clinician, consultant, educator, and researcher. Works to improve nursing practice and patient care.

Work Schedule: Full Time Days

Responsibilities:
Identifies needs of the patient and family and interprets needs with staff. Promotes optimal patient outcomes.

Develops individual patient strategies. Evaluates effectiveness of care and recommends change to improve outcomes. Helps develop evidence-based protocols and procedures.

Prepares reports on patient and program outcomes. Advises other departments, committees and the community on pain management. With nurse educators, assesses educational needs and coordinates programs for caregivers. Mentors students.

Provides consultation to health care providers and patients. Facilitates problem-solving in patient care delivery. Evaluates practices for safety, patient satisfaction, cost benefit, or barriers to care.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

This is a leadership role with the following responsibilities focusing on post-partum care, gynecological surgeries and well-newborn populations :

--- Uses evidence-based knowledge as a foundation for nursing practice to achieve optimal nurse-sensitive outcomes.
--- Leads and participates in systematic quality improvement and safety initiatives based on problem/etiology identification, gap analysis and process evaluation. .
--- Contributes to the advancement of the practice of nursing at the unit/ system level.
--- Assesses the nursing practice environment and processes for improvement opportunities.
--- Mentors nurses in the process of planning, implementing, and evaluating change.
--- Collaborates with nurses to develop and/or revise nursing policies, protocols and procedures using evidence-based information. Provides expert consultation related to complex patient care needs.
--- Evaluates impact of nursing interventions on patient outcomes using a scientific approach.
--- Designs and implements evidenced-based, cost-effective interventions, including advanced nursing therapies to meet the multifaceted needs of complex patients.
--- Leads and facilitates coordinated care and care transitions in collaboration with the inter-professional team.
--- Facilitates resolution of ethical conflicts in complex patient care situations.
--- Consults with health care team members to integrate the needs, preferences, and strengths of a population to improve care and patient experience.
--- Partners with research-focused, doctoral prepared (e.g. PhD) colleagues to translate, conduct and disseminate research that addresses gaps and improves clinical knowledge and practice.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • State licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Nurse Practitioner (NP) and/or other designation as required by law.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • 3 years' experience in clinical specialty in an acute care setting; experience in pain management.
    • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.) This position's pay range starts at: $41.43/hour. An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
