Diabetes Educator RN - Inpatient Wound Care

Provides diabetes education to patients, caregivers, staff, and the
- The position is Monday through Friday, no weekends.
- Consist of mostly educating newly diagnosed diabetics,
individuals that are having challenges around blood sugar
control/diabetes management, insulin pumps, and DKA. Great
opportunity to work alongside nurses and providers throughout the
hospital (Primarily at Memorial Central, with some patient
interactions at Memorial North or Grandview Hospitals)
- The position is fairly autonomous, with mutually agreed upon
hours determined between the department manager and diabetic
- Preferred: CDCES certification
Work Schedule: Full Time Days
- Provides diabetes self-management education and training to
patients with diabetes and their family members utilizing
curriculum approved by the American Diabetes Association.
- Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary diabetes care
team to implement plan of care.
- Reinforces diabetes education and instruction to staff nurses
and support staff.
- Develops and distributes educational materials to

supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and
take appropriate action.
- Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a
Registered Nurse (RN). Preferred: CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care
and Education Specialist) as defined by the Certification Board for
Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) or board certified in Advanced
Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) by the Association of Diabetes Care
and Education Specialists (ADCES). Relevant life support
certification as determined at position level.
- Minimum Experience: 2 years nursing experience.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red
Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before
start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of
hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either
the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for
the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional
Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be
through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.)

The pay range for this position is: $36.47 - $56.52 / hour. Pay is
dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
