Pharmacist Clinical - Emergency Department/ICU

Job Description:

Summary:
Will support the evening emergency department and intensive care units (ED/ICU). The person will physically work out of the ED and help with ED needs as well as have specific ICU responsibilities for coverage.

Work Schedule:

  • Part Time, 56 hours / pay period
  • 7 on 7 off with 8 hour shifts that will start at 3:00pm
  • Evenings


Responsibilities:

ED responsibilities

  • Divide the responsibilities of the ED with the primary pharmacist on the evening ED shifts
  • This could be a division of zones or may be coordinated with the other pharmacist directly to meet the changing needs of the department as the flow of the ED changes for various reasons
  • Will attend evening CDU shift change rounds (approximately at 2000)
  • Will ensure med rec's are done on patients that haven't had these done yet (coordination with PAS as they complete their shifts to help finalize the med rec's necessary)
  • Will assist with inpatient orders for patients admitted to observation status holding in the ED
  • Help with pyxis refills and audits


ICU responsibilities

  • Respond to alteplase alerts for inpatient strokes and frostbites
  • Order verification of inpatient ICU orders
  • Facilitate transfer of patients from ED to ICU
  • Coordination of PAS consults
  • Antimicrobial stewardship activities
  • Manages pharmaceutical care and protocols as a part of an interdisciplinary team.


Requirements:

  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Pharmacist and any relevant life support certification as determined at position level.

Preferred:

  • Emergency Medicine or Critical care PGY2


The pay range for this position is: $50.76 - $76.14 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

An annual bonus may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
