DescriptionSummary: Provides diabetes self-management education
and training (DSME/T), using assessment, goal setting, planning,
implementation, and evaluation. Develops professional competency of
clinical staff.Work Schedule:
- Full Time, 64 hours / pay period
- Days Responsibilities:
- Educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved
in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical
activity and glucose testing.
- Constructs age-specific education. Incorporates data from care
team into the plan of care. Follows the AADE 7 self-care behaviors
in education.
- Acts as advanced level diabetes educator within 3 years of
hire, as recognized by the American Association of Diabetes
Educators (AADE) guidelines.
- Trains other team members and participates in annual provider
training on insulin pumps and intensive insulin management.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills,
decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal
supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and
take appropriate action. Requirements:
- Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Dietetics.
Preferred: Master's degree.Required Licensure/Certification:
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
required within 3 months of hire. CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care
and Education Specialist) as defined by the Certification Board for
Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) within 3 years of hire. Basic
Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.Minimum Experience: 1 year
as a Registered Dietitian. Experience in managing patients with
diabetes. Preferred: 2 years as a diabetes educator and completion
of certification.
- BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red
Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before
start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of
hire. All life support certification cards must be issued by either
the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for
the Professional Rescuer. (American Red Cross for the Professional
Rescuer is only good upon hire and all renewals will need to be
through an American Heart Association sanctioned course.) The pay
range for this position is: $31.61 - $47.41 / hour. Pay is
dependent on applicant's relevant experience.UCHealth offers a Five
