Description
Summary:
Serves as a liaison for breast imaging patients, navigating them
through imaging and biopsy to surgery or treatment. Tracks patients
according to MQSA standards and educates patients, families, staff
and community on breast health.
Work Schedule: Full Time Days
Responsibilities:
Initiates communication with patients upon learning they have a
suspicious mammogram or a positive finding. Facilitates
communication with patient's health care providers and staff
involved in their care. Reviews information with the family. Guides
patient through scheduling and imaging exams.
Follows patient's progress from initial visit until they are on
treatment with medical or radiation oncology. Tracks interventions
and outcomes.
Provides education to inform practitioners of Breast Imaging
Patient Navigator role. Provides education to individuals and
groups. Maintains a library for patients and families.
Identifies target population for women at high risk for breast
cancer and under utilization of breast health services.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive
judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate
action.
Requirements:
Required Licensure/Certification: ARRT certification in
Mammography. Certification as a Breast Patient Navigator in imaging
(CBPN-I or CBPN-IC) or obtain it within 18 months of hire date.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
Minimum Experience: 5 years as certified ARRT mammography
technologist. Preferred: Experience in a comprehensive breast
center.
The pay range for this position is: $36.19 - $54.28 / hour. Pay is
dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
